Video: Sprint Car Driver Zach Daum Flips Over Guardrail and Lands Off Track During USAC Race
Racer Zach Daum flipped through the catch fence and off the track while battling for a transfer spot in the Winter Dirt Games at Ocala Speedway in Florida on Thursday night. The 32-year-old midget and sprint car driver luckily walked away from catastrophe.
In the fifth race of the USAC sprint car season, we saw our first big scare as Daum, while racing for fourth and the final transfer spot from his heat, crashed and flipped off of the racetrack. Daum’s left front collided with Michel Moles. Daum flew through the air, flipped end over end multiple times, hit the guardrail between turns three and four, and continued into a parking lot on the edge of the grandstands.
His 410 sprint car came dangerously close to the grandstands at Ocala (formally known as Bubba Raceway Park) when it landed back on the Earth.
