Bangladesh hosted a national conference in a bid to thwart the rise of fundamentalists and combat militancy while speakers from Pakistan and India also attended as they discussed the efforts aiming to foil communalism. The conference was organized by an anti-communalism and militancy platform in Dhaka. President of Pakistan's workers party, Farooq Tariq, said that they opposed religious fundamentalism as it hits the weaker sections of the society.
