Modi should resign on moral grounds: Congress on Vanzara's letter

Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi on Wednesday said that the confessions made by Indian Police Service (IPS) officer DG Vanzara, charged and incarcerated in three fake encounter cases, have thoroughly exposed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his government. Speaking to mediapersons in New Delhi, he said that Modi should give clarification over the matter as Vanzara was considered his right hand. He also said that if Modi has some morality left he should resign and the allegations against him must be probed. Vanzara, who is a key accused in alleged fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and some similar cases, resigned on Tuesday blaming Modi and his aide Amit Shah for it. In his 10-page resignation letter to the Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, the suspended IPS officer stated that he was resigning from the service and renounced all the post-retirement benefits. Vanzara put the entire blame on Modi and Shah, saying the two did not protect Gujarat's policemen.
