US Senate passes anti-India immigration legislation

The United States senate on Friday passed an immigration reform Bill that makes it harder and costlier for Indian tech firms to use H-1B workers at their US operations. In a rare show of bi-partisanship, the Democratic-controlled Senate passed the bill by a vote of 68-32, with 14 of the Senate's 46 Republicans joining all 52 Democrats and two independents in support of the bill. But the Bill is not a law yet, and it may never become one in its present form because the House of Representatives, the other chamber of US Congress, is considering its own set of bills.
