BMW has revealed a new 5-series, and the big news is the addition of the electric i5. But the gas-powered 530i and 540i models are also new, and BMW says that a plug-in hybrid will eventually join the U.S. lineup as well.
The base 5-series is the 530i, which has a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine.
The 530i has 255 horsepower and rear-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive optional.
There's also a six-cylinder 540i, which we don't yet have pictures of, that has 375 horsepower.
The 530i will go on sale before the 540i, which won't arrive until November 2023.
The gas-powered 5-series shares its body and platform with the i5, but there are a few small visual differences.
BMW says that a plug-in-hybrid version of the 5-series will come to the U.S. next year but hasn't shared details yet.
These photos are of the Europe-spec 530e plug-in hybrid, which likely previews the version we'll get.
