Up front, the 2024 Kona maintains the same basic shape, with a simplified and more modern look. The split headlights are gone and have been replace by a razor-thin running light stretching the width of the car.
The front grille has been redesigned and now features vents that open or close to regulate airflow.
Changes to the back of the Kona mirror those to the front. The somewhat busy lighting pattern from the last generation is replaced with a single sleek brake light stretching from corner to corner.
If those changes aren't enough, the N Line model ups the flavor even more with body-colored cladding, an eye-catching rear spoiler, and redesigned front and rear bumpers, as well as exclusive N Line wheels.
The split gauge and infotainment screens from the old model are out, having been replaced with Hyundai's more modern dual 12.3-inch screens.
As for phone connections, there are a handful of USB-C connections for front and rear passengers. Hyundai added digital entry using a smartphone, as well as support for over-the-air updates.
Customers in cooler climates will appreciate the optional heated and ventilated seats along with the optional heated steering wheel.
The last generation's 2.0-liter four-cylinder and turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines make their way back, producing 147 and 190 horsepower, respectively.
The turbo option loses the last generation's seven-speed dual-clutch transmission in favor of a much smoother eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
In a quest for more rear legroom, Hyundai reduced the thickness of the front seatbacks by 30 percent, building them out of a higher-strength steel.
