The Maserati GranTurismo is back and better than ever. With a modified version of the twin-turbo V-6 that also powers the MC20 supercar, and a host of revisions to its aesthetics and myriad creature comforts, this four-seat coupe shows that this 75-year-old nameplate has plenty of life left in it. Sure, there's a hyper-potent electric variant on offer, but if you aren't yet ready to take the plug-in plunge, the new GranTurismo still gives you plenty to love.

After a brief pause, the Maserati GranTurismo has returned, and it's brought a whole load of changes along for the ride.

Instead of starting with a blank sheet of paper, Maserati pulled most of the new GranTurismo's influence from its predecessor.

Adjustments to the body have increased rear-seat headroom, in addition to lowering the drag coefficient from 0.32 to 0.28.

Be prepared to pay the piper, though, as the new GranTurismo starts at about $175,000.

The interior is sufficiently modern without looking like it's trying too hard.

A 12.3-inch infotainment display hangs out just above a separate 8.8-inch screen that manages the climate control.

Under the hood, the previous Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V-8 has been swapped out in favor of a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6.

In its base form, the new V-6's 483 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque give it an output advantage over the outgoing V-8.

Move up to the Trofeo variant, and output rises to 542 horsepower and 479 pound-feet.

The GranTurismo Trofeo gets an electronic limited-slip differential, while the Modena makes do with a mechanical one.
