Mazda has just revealed the CX-70, and you're not mistaken if you think it looks remarkably similar to the CX-90. The CX-70 is essentially just a two-row version of the mid-size SUV, and despite its different name it shares its looks, powertrains, and platform with its big sibling.
The CX-70 rides on Mazda's new longitudinal platform that's also underneath the CX-90.
A turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six with a 48-volt hybrid system is standard equipment, as it is in the CX-90.
Mazda will offer the inline-six in two strengths, one with 280 horsepower and the other with 340 hp.
All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard.
The CX-70 shares its interior layout with the CX-90, but offers a red leather option.
Amazon Alexa is a new integration here, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
To create the two-row CX-70, Mazda essentially just removed the third row from the CX-90.
Without the third row, the cargo area grows to include an underfloor compartment.
Mazda hasn't quoted exact cargo space figures, but it looks roomy back there.
