With the Polestar 3, the Swedish EV brand finally joins the world of SUVs, and its entrant into the growing segment trades on its crisp and clean styling, high-tech cabin, and strong driving dynamics.
The Polestar 3 shares its new platform, the EV-only SPA2 architecture, with the Volvo EX90 but takes on a sportier character.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain produces 483 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, with the Performance pack raising that to 510 horsepower and 671 lb-ft.
Even in the base spec, the Polestar 3 feels quick, and Polestar claims a 0-to-60-mph sprint of 4.8 seconds.
A 107.0-kWh battery provides a claimed range of 315 miles, with the Performance pack dropping that to 279 miles.
The 3 will charge at up to 250 kW on a DC fast-charger, with Polestar claiming the battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes.
The cabin is centered around a 14.5-inch touchscreen and a 9.0-inch digital gauge cluster, with minimal physical controls.
The Plus package includes a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos spatial audio that pleased our ears.
A host of sensors and cameras allow the Pilot Assist system to steer the Polestar 3 within its lane and execute assisted lane changes.
Pricing for the Polestar 3 starts at $75,300, with the Performance package tacking on another $6K.
