The 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is the new top model in the electric Taycan lineup and, with 1092 horsepower, the most powerful production car the German automaker has ever produced.
With the $231,995 Turbo GT, Porsche is looking to one-up the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire. Porsche has already set production-EV lap records at both the Nürburgring and Laguna Seca, in both cases beating the Model S Plaid.
The Turbo GT still has a two-motor powertrain, with a more powerful rear inverter enabling the far-higher peak output (1092 hp versus 938 hp in the Turbo S). New for the Turbo GT are steering-wheel-mounted paddles. The right one adds a 160-hp power boost for 10 seconds at a time, while the left controls the regen setting.
There's a no-cost Weissach package that gets extreme to save a claimed 157 pounds versus the Turbo S. It even removes the rear seat and replaces it with a carbon-fiber storage bin, paring 49 pounds.
Even the driver's-side charge-port door and associated wiring—all other Taycans have charge ports on both front flanks—gets deleted with the Weissach package to drop a few pounds.
The Weissach package also adds front and rear splitters and a large, fixed rear wing to make 175 pounds of front and 310 pounds of rear downforce.
We drove cars spec'd for Europe, where fixed-back carbon-fiber bucket seats come with the Weissach option. But they don't meet U.S. unbelted-occupant crash requirements, so we won't get them here.
Super-sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS Elect track tires are standard on U.S. Weissach-package cars, while the Pirelli P Zero R is the standard tire.
Of course the grip levels were way higher with the Trofeo RS tires, but they also completely change the balance of the Turbo GT, making it far more neutral and willing to wag the rear end.
We drove the Turbo GT at the 2.4-mile Monteblanco circuit in southern Spain, where its active dampers really shine, with exceptionally flat cornering.
Brakes are Porsche's typically large carbon-ceramic discs, but the Turbo GT's brake hardware has been pared down slightly to save almost five pounds.
