Volkswagen Is Reportedly Reviving the Scout as an Electric SUV and Pickup

We'd forgive you if you've never heard of the International Harvester brand, which has been defunct since the Eighties. Volkswagen bought the rights to the company, known for the Scout SUV, back in late 2020, and according to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the German automaker is finally planning to do something with them.

According to the WSJ, Volkswagen is set to resurrect the Scout nameplate for the U.S. market by way of an all-electric pickup truck and SUV. Though no official announcement has been made, the brand's management board is reportedly expected to approve the Scout program when it meets on Wednesday.

A VW spokesperson declined to comment when reached by Road & Track via email. A spokesperson told Reuters the topic was on the Wednesday meeting's agenda, adding an update will be released later in the day.
