Yahoo Autos Volvo S60 Says Farewell to the States as Production Ends after This Month
The Volvo S60 will end production in the United States at the end of June.
The S60 is currently built at Volvo's factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina, which is where the new 2025 Volvo EX90 SUV is also now being built.
While Volvo will continue to build the sedan at its Daqing factory in China, a spokesperson told Car and Driver there are no plans to import S60s into the U.S.
After this month, the number of sedans sold in the U.S. will decrease by one, as the Volvo S60 is slated to end production at the end of June. The compact luxury car that's sold in the States is currently built at Volvo's assembly plant in Ridgeline, South Carolina, which is also where the electric three-row EX90 is being built.
While the S60 lineup will soon be dead in the U.S., it will continue to be sold in some other markets. That's because Volvo's sedan is also built at the company's Daqing factory in China. We reached out to Volvo about whether or not those cars would be imported to our shores, but a spokesperson told Car and Driver that there currently aren't any plans to do so.
The Volvo rep also said this about the S60's final model year here: "The S60 is still being produced currently as a MY25 vehicle and is available at Volvo retailers across the country. Customers interested in the S60 are encouraged to reach out to their local retailer or visit volvocars.com/us to learn more."
The current generation of the S60 debuted for the 2019 model year, and its exterior and interior designs are virtually unchanged since then. For 2025, the lineup offers a nonhybrid model that features a 247-hp turbo four as well as a 456-hp plug-in-hybrid model. The latter also trades its "Recharge" moniker to become the more obvious, albeit clunkier-sounding, "T8 AWD plug-in hybrid."
