Watch this 10-Ton Dakar Rally Truck Wreak Havoc on the Goodwood Hillclimb

From Road & Track

Those familiar with the Goodwood Festival of Speed will know that many different types of vehicles are invited to drive up the hill. One of those vehicles is the wacky Red Bull Kamaz 4326, built to compete in the Dakar Rally.

The gigantic race truck towers over every other entry at the hillclimb, and weighs no less than 20,000 pounds. It's powered by a turbodiesel V8, which is attached to a 16-speed manual ZF transmission. This sends around 2,000 lb-ft of torque through all four tires. All of this allows the Kamaz to reach a top speed of 102 miles per hour.

The cabin is designed to seat three individuals, and sits directly above the engine. Although it looks like the truck is carrying quite a load, the entire back section is actually empty.

Ayrat Mardeev, who won the Dakar rally in 2015 with the truck, can be seen ripping up the grass surrounding the road, drifting the 900HP behemoth around every corner. While the truck certainly was not built for this competition, Mardeev has no problem maneuvering the Kamaz through the one-lane stretch, all the way to the finish line.

Watch as it makes the Goodwood Festival of Speed look like a special stage.
