Watch An Armed Robbery Suspect Shoot At Police During A Chase

Back on June 17, 2022, 35-year-old Dallas Francis held a Circle K clerk at gunpoint in Miramar Beach, Florida. Using surveillance footage, police were able to conclude Francis was their suspect and tracked down his car as he traveled down a road in northern Walton County. Little did they know the situation would rapidly turn deadly.

What you don’t see at first in the included dashcam footage is the Circle K clerk behind the wheel. She’s apparently being held at gunpoint still as Francis fires off some shots at pursuing deputies.

Francis also throws wads of cash out the window, likely trying to ditch the evidence of his criminal behavior.

Deputies spike the tires on the getaway car, but the driver keeps going even as the bare metal of the wheel rims spark against the asphalt. We’ve seen vehicles catch fire this way, so it’s always a scary scenario.

As the chase continues down I-10 both Walton and Okaloosa County deputies are in pursuit along with Florida Highway Patrol Troopers. Ordering his captive to stop on the side of the interstate, Francis exits the car and starts firing at his pursuers who return fire, injuring Francis.

Thankfully, no member of law enforcement was hit by the man’s wild gunfire.

Ultimately, Francis had his day in court, catching a 50-year prison sentence with a 20-year mandatory sentence for attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm, two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, grand theft, plus fleeing and eluding. They pretty much threw the book at him and it stuck.

Considering Francis is a repeat offender who was caught after performing an armed robbery in Ohio, that might be why.

What’s even more interesting about this case is that the clerk, 30-year-old Mary Yard, who was originally thought to be a helpless victim of Francis was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, plus aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
