Watch BMW XM Label Red Crash at Pikes Peak

BMW threw its new XM crossover into the motorsports wringer and campaigned it at the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This potent BMW crossover was expected to show off its competitive chops, and BMW documented the journey. Unfortunately, the BMW’s XM didn’t finish its lap up the hill. Instead, driver Matt Mullins went off track and crashed into a tree.

Thankfully, Mullins escaped the crash unharmed. The documentary captures the moment leading up to the crash, the crash itself, and the aftermath of the crash. You can ride along with Mullins thanks to an in-car camera, as you watch the BMW XM go wide on a corner exit. You can also see the XM roll after hitting the tree before landing on its wheels.

While the crash is the unfortunate focus of the end of the video, the whole journey is worth a watch. This video follows the development of the car, testing the car, and preparing for the rigors of Pikes Peak.
