The new Chevy Camaro ZL1 is just starting to reach customers, and with 650 horsepower under the hood, you'd think that would be enough to hold owners over for at least a couple hundred miles. But there's at least one ZL1 driver out there that just couldn't wait.

With just 60 miles on the odometer and the original gasoline from the dealership, RPM Motorsports of North Carolina decided its ZL1 was ready to be modified for the drag strip. Gone are the high-performance street tires, and in its place sit full-on drag radials. Additionally, the performance shop has fitted a a nitrous kit for even more outright power.

Thanks to a tune and that fast-shifting 10-speed automatic, the white ZL1 is able to put down a fairly absurd 9.98-second quarter-mile time at 140 mph. That's a second and a half quicker than the stock time of 11.4 seconds at 127 mph.

Watch below as RPM Motorsports run through some break-in miles as it tears up the drag strip.
