The2019 ZR1 is the most powerful, quickest, and fastest Corvette road car ever. Though, with 755 hp, a 2.8 second run to 60, and a 212 mph top speed, that was to be expected. But determining that top speed wasn't as simple as driving fast on a runway. It needed to be verified in two directions, with the average being the actual top speed.

To do that, Chevy took the ZR1 to a gigantic oval in Germany that wasn't VW's Ehra Lessein. Called Automotive Testing Papenburg, it has an 7.6 mile banked oval that makes the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway look like a child's playground.

In order to make sure that the ZR1's top speed was accurate, engineers made a run with the wind and against the wind, taking the average of the two runs to get the ZR1's 212 mph top speed. With the wind, the car actually hit nearly 215 mph, and against it was just a shade more than 210. Huge figures for a $120,000 sports car from Kentucky.
