Right around the time when the first 2016 Miatas started hitting dealerships, we heard that Flyin' Miata was cooking up a V8 swap. The first example is finished now-packing a 525-horsepower fuel-injected GM LS3 V8, a Tremec six-speed stick, and a curb weight within 200 lbs. of the stocker.

Flyin' Miata just posted a video of the first V8-swapped ND Miata doing a full-throttle acceleration test. Yep, it's wickedly quick. Have a look:

That's a lightweight, affordable, rear-drive roadster that can chirp the tires going into fourth gear. Amazing. If you want Flyin' Miata to build a turn-key example for you, bring a suitcase with $50,000 in it to their shop, and prepare to come out with a beast of a little drop-top.
