Watch the Insane Coordination It Takes to Pull off a Two-Second F1 Pit Stop

From Road & Track

Back in June, Felipe Massa's pit crew managed to change all four of his tires in a record-breaking 1.92 seconds. Prior to that, the record for the quickest tire swap was held by Red Bull at 2.05 seconds. Considering it can take a regular person 10 minutes or more to change a single flat tire, a Formula 1 team's ability to change four in less than two seconds is mind-blowing.

If you want to take a peek behind the curtain and get an idea what kind of coordination a pit stop like that requires, check out the video below. It breaks down the role each of the 18 crew members have, letting you watch in slow motion as they jack the car up, pull the old wheels off, and attaching the new ones.

Of course, as Red Bull Driver Max Verstappen learned last weekend, even the best pit crews can only be this quick if they already know the driver is about to pull into the pit.
