Watch Jay Leno Whup Tim Allen In an 850-HP Toyota Camry
Jay Leno and Tim Allen have a lot in common. The greying comedians are both major car enthusiasts-and major pranksters.
So when Jay invited Tim to bring a stock, unmodified vintage car for a drag race, you knew The Toolman wasn't going to play by the rules.
Tim shows up in a very slick 1955 Ford Coupe. From the outside, it seems like a tasteful restomod, with cleaned-up chromework and slightly plus-sized wheels. Under the hood, though, it's boasting a supercharged 5.4-liter Ford V8-the same engine used in the 2006 Ford GT.
Of course, Jay brought something even cheatier: The 850-horsepower Toyota Sleeper Camry. What looks like a plain-jane silver Camry on the outside is actually a tube-frame, nitro-huffing, supercharged rear-drive drag racing machine, capable of running the quarter-mile in 9.8 seconds. Only the red roll cage tubing-okay, and the giant DOT slicks out back-give it away.
So, of course, you see what's going to happen here. But you want to watch it anyway. If not for the drag racing, then for the old-man slapfight that ensues.
