Watch How Jeep Design Has Evolved Over 75 Years

From Road & Track

Did you hear? This week marks the 75th anniversary of Jeep. The famed 4x4 maker celebrated by building a fantastic commemorative Wrangler show vehicle, and now it's released this video illustrating just how much the brand's design language has evolved over three-quarters of a century.

Well, some elements have evolved. Others have disappeared only to come back in vogue, like the wide-eyed round headlights, now a fixture on the Wrangler and Renegade. And some elements just plain never left at all-like the vertical-slat grille, traditionally with seven openings.

There are some notable absences from this animated timeline, like the 1999-2004 WJ Grand Cherokee and both generations of the Liberty, and the current Cherokee with its squinty LED accent lighting looks even more out-of-place when compared to its forebears.

But this delightful animation is still a lovely tour of 75 years of Jeeps. May we always have an open-topped 4x4 to add to this lineage.
