The X5 M was BMW's first all-wheel drive M car, powered exclusively by a twin-turbo V8 since its inception. Now that an all new X5 is out, an M version is undoubtedly on its way. Here it is testing on the Nurburgring.

Nurburgring YouTuber Automotive Mike spotted this partially camouflaged BMW X5 performance testing on the Green Hell during an industry test pool session recently. Like any modern M car, this X5 is sporting quad exhaust pipes (two on either corner of the rear). Also, it looks really quick. Here, watch for yourself.

Currently, there's no telling what sort of engine will power the next X5 M, but we're guessing it'll be a variant of the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 found in the current M5 (the original version of which, interestingly, debuted in the original X5 M). That's just speculation, however. We'll have to wait until the final product is revealed to know for sure.
