Yahoo Autos Watch This Porsche 917 Flat-12 Get Rebuilt
If you're not familiar with the name Canepa, you should be. Bruce Canepa is one of the biggest names in the classic Porsche community thanks to his stunning collection of assorted racing Porsches and vintage metal, including cars like the Le Mans-winning 917. Canepa's team does all their maintenance in-house, and luckily for us, they even film some of it.
One of the Canepa-owned 917s was in need of an engine rebuild, so a few of team's mechanics got to work on disassembling, refurbushing, and rebuilding the legendary flat-12 unit. The entire process was documented on video and condensed into a three-minute time-lapse for us all to see, and it's seriously cool to watch.
Remember, engines like this one took outright victories at Le Mans, and set a new standard for racing back in the late 1960s. So if you're a big fan of classic Porsche history, this video is certainly worth a watch.
