Watch a Porsche 918 Spyder Run a Quarter-Mile in Less Than 10 Seconds

From Road & Track

The Porsche 918 Spyder is almost incomprehensibly quick. This isn't news for Road & Track readers, but sometimes, it's worth being reminded of just how freakish the 918's accelerative abilities are compared with everything this side of a Kawasaki H2R. This video from a drag racing event in Germany will remind us nicely.

On the third run presented here, the 918 runs a 9.94-second quarter-mile, which is mind blowing for a car with license plates, even if it costs nearly $1 million. The 918's 887-hp cocktail of race-derived V8 and electric motors, all-wheel-drive, and quick-shifting PDK transmission make it dominant at the drag strip.

When we tested the 918 ourselves back in 2014, we managed a best run of an even 10.0 seconds in the quarter-mile. Interestingly, the 918 isn't the quickest car we've tested, though–that honor goes to the LaFerrari, which manages an astonishing 9.7-second quarter-mile.
