Formula 1's annual visit to Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas for the United States Grand Prix will receive the full and live attention of NBC Sports Network as it carries every lap from FP1 through to the conclusion of the race and beyond with hosts Leigh Diffey, David Hobbs, Steve Matchett, and Will Buxton.
Friday: 11 a.m. ET, Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2 at 3 p.m. ET.
Saturday: 12:30 p.m. ET, Free Practice 3 and Qualifying.
Sunday: 2 p.m. ET, pre-race coverage with NBC with F1 Countdown through the race and F1 Extra continue the post-race coverage at 5 p.m. ET.
As the go-to channel for F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, Global Rallycross, and other forms of racing, veteran NBCSN producer Rich O'Connor welcomes the chance each year to lavish the USGP with extra love.
"We certainly like to think we're the home of motorsports in America and take a lot of pride in our coverage," he told RoadandTrack.com. "There are certain events on the calendar we circle and try to find ways into it that make it feel as big as it truly is. COTA fits into that description."
O'Connor also hopes the friendly broadcast times-compared to some F1 events that take place while most Americans are asleep-will expose the world's most popular form of racing to a wider domestic audience.
"It's the home event for the grand prix for the United States and it also happens to fit favorable hours on the schedule, so it makes a lot of sense that we can cover every second a car is on the track and go beyond that to bring more people inside this event," he added. "We have a post-qualifying show and an extended post-race show on Sunday, and we have a lot of time to fill, but that's easy with the passion everyone has for F1."
This year's COTA F1 race will feature the home debut for the Haas team and a tense battle for the championship between points leader Nico Rosberg and the answerless Lewis Hamilton who hasn't won since July, sits 33 points behind his Mercedes teammate, and has four races left to engineer a reversal of fortune.
