Formula 1 - Austrian Grand Prix
Sunday, July 8th - 9:00 a.m. ET - ESPN2

After the British Grand Prix seemed to indicate that both Ferrari and Mercedes had the pace to keep up with Red Bull's Max Verstappen again, Verstappen pulled away in today's sprint race in Austria. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc eventually started catching him again before the sprint ended, but it's a worrying sign for the rest of the grid as Verstappen already holds a substantial lead in his hunt for a second straight, and second total, championship. Thanks to the results of that sprint, Verstappen and Leclerc will share the front row again tomorrow.

NASCAR - Atlanta Motor Speedway
Sunday, July 8th - 3:00 p.m. ET - USA

The newly-reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway is now a mini drafting track, something like a lane-and-a-half Talladega that encourages all the pack racing of a superspeedway without any of the room to pass and maneuver within the pack. It's a bit of a worst-of-both-worlds on paper, but in practice it led to a compelling finish in the first-ever race on the new layout earlier this season. However, the new Atlanta is a one-of-a-kind track, and both of its dates are well before the season-ending playoffs. That makes this both one of the least relevant races for teams already looking toward the playoffs and the biggest wildcard for teams still on the outside looking in. Expect a much higher-stakes race for those without wins than for the 13 that do.
