From Road & Track

The current Aston Martin V8 Vantage is nearing the end of its 12-year production run, soon to be replaced with a new version powered by an AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Surely, the next-gen Vantage will sound good, but it won't sound like this. The Vantage AMR Pro shouted its way up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier today, reminding us why we'll miss it when its gone.

The Vantage AMR Pro is a race-inspired, track-only version of the regular V8 Vantage, equipped with a 503-hp version of Aston's old 4.7-liter V8. It sounds a lot like the racing version of the V8 Vantage that just won Le Mans, and indeed, the two cars share a number of components.

It sounds phenomenal. And as one of a few performance cars still equipped with a naturally aspirated V8, we'll miss the Vantage's demon shriek when it's gone. Hopefully Aston's engineers can capture some of this magic.
