Porsche's insane array of customizable extras make its online build-your-own tools among the most entertaining and addicting, so, good news: the configurator for the new 992-generation Porsche 911 is already live. We've already gotten lost perusing the new sports car's many combinations, colors, packages, and options, and we're sure you will, too.

So far, only two versions of the 992 are buildable: the Carrera S and the Carrera 4S. The Carrera S, which starts at $114,350, comes with rear-wheel drive and a 443-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six, while the $121,650 Carrera 4S comes with the same engine and adds all-wheel drive. These will be the first versions of the new 911 to go on sale in the United States, and they will initially come only with a PDK seven-speed dual-clutch transmission; a seven-speed manual will follow in the coming months. Also yet to come are other 911 body styles, such as the convertible and the Targa, higher-powered variants such as the Turbo and Turbo S, and special models such as the GTS and the 911 T.

A choice of 17 exterior colors (not including the $11,430 paint-to-sample option), four wheel options, 21 interior upholsteries, and nearly infinite trim add-ons ensure that no two 911 models will be the same. Performance extras include options such as $2090 rear-wheel steering, $3170 adaptive dampers, $8970 ceramic brakes, and a $2720 Sport Chrono package with additional driving modes, analog and digital stopwatches, launch control, and rev matching.

Other big-ticket items include a $5560 Burmester sound system, $3270 LED matrix headlights, and a $2000 glass sunroof. And of course there are the requisite minutae such as a painted key with its own Alcantara pouch (that'll be $540) or a windshield wiper for the rear window ($370).

All that's left now is for you to visit the build-your-own tool and spend hours creating a 911 for yourself.
