World Rallycross Is Coming to COTA in 2018

The FIA World Rallycross Championship announced today it will comes to the United States in 2018 for a race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. This marks the first time the series has held an event in the U.S., with the event being a part of a "festival" weekend September 29-30th.

The event, a mixed surface race held on dirt and pavement, will feature a host of different 600-horsepower Rallycross cars such as the Volkswagen Polo GTI, Audi S1, and Peugeot 208. Sadly, we won't be seeing any factory Ford entries, as the Hoonigan Racing team announced it will be pulling out of the series at the end of 2017.

Along with the racing, the weekend will include music, food festivals, and action sports. According to the World RX press release, construction of the circuit is expected to begin in the coming months.

If you can't make it to Texas, don't worry. Red Bull Global Rallycross holds events all across North America (but not the globe. It's confusing) and features equally awesome cars for fans to enjoy.
