New Yamaha R6 on the Way?

Yamaha has released a teaser video that has many fans believing that an all-new version of the R6 is soon to be released.

With the Honda CBR600RR being phased out of the European market and overall sales of sport bikes on a multi-year decline, many had wondered if the days of the 600cc supersport were over.

But now Yamaha has given people reason to doubt that assumption.

"This looks to be a teaser for long-awaited complete redesign of the wildly successful Yamaha YZF-R6 supersport that hasn't had a major refresh since 2006," explains RideApart sportbike editor Bruce Speedman. "From the audio in the quick video clips, it sounds like an all-new super high-RPM crossplane 4-cylinder 600cc motor is powering the new bike.

"I can't wait to see more on October 4th (Isn't that day 1 of the Intermot show?)"

October 4th, the date teased in the video clip is indeed the Intermot media day, and RideApart will be there. In the meantime, what do you think? Is Bruce right?
