Generally when you needs a family car, you swap whatever cool car you have for something a little more practical and a little more sensible. Harry Metcalfe did the opposite and we think he's a hero for doing so. He decided he was tired of his diesel Range Rover, so he swapped it for a 550-horsepower supercharged Jaguar XJR.
To prove his point, he saddled up his family of four for a ski trip to the French Alps in the XJR. No need for all-wheel-drive, a big trunk, and ground clearance. Just throw a set of snow tires on the Jag, pack the trunk extra tight and you're good to go.
Ok, fine. Maybe 550 horsepower is a teensy bit excessive for a family car, but Metcalfe's spirit is right here. Don't drive an ungainly SUV just because you think you need to; Drive the car you want.
