American Zak Brown has committed his long-term future to McLaren Racing after extending his contract to remain as its chief executive officer through 2030.

Brown, 52, initially joined McLaren in 2016 as the executive director of its Technology Group and became the CEO of its Racing Division in 2018 following an internal restructure. Under Brown’s stewardship of McLaren’s racing division the Formula 1 team has enjoyed an upwards trajectory.

Last season, McLaren finished fourth in the F1 Constructors’ Championship, with multiple podium finishes, and it has started 2024 among the chasing pack, behind Red Bull and Ferrari, holding third in the standings.

Brown also recommitted McLaren to the IndyCar Series from 2020, aligning with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, before acquiring a majority stake in the team in 2022.

McLaren additionally has a presence in Formula E—recently winning its first race at the São Paulo E-Prix—and in Extreme E.

“I am thrilled to continue leading McLaren Racing and to be a part of such a historic race team,” said Brown. “It is a privilege to work alongside the talented men and women across McLaren Racing's different race series. Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of motorsport and strive for the highest performance on and off the track.”
