Never known for its subtlety, Brabus has come out swinging once more, this time unveiling the Rocket 1000, which is essentially a supercar sedan. Based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, output is dialed up to 1,000-horsepower (hence the name) while production is capped at a mere 25 units.
Lotus wants to make self-driving sports cars.
The tuning house pulled out all the stops to get the biturbo 4.5-liter V8 to push out 1,000-hp. Actually, it doesn’t do that alone, thanks to an electric component to the powertrain, making this supercar a gas-electric hybrid. That helps explain why torque peaks at a monstrous 1,194 lb.-ft.
This makes the Rocket 1000 the most powerful Brabus to date. It makes good use of that, sprinting 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds and hitting a top speed of 196 mph. We doubt many if any will race these cars, so that performance potential might not truly be utilized.
