The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. First announced in September 2022, this new electric SUV will be available later this year, debuting with a fully loaded Launch Edition model priced at $71,995. This model features a powerful 600-horsepower dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain, promising over 300 miles of range on a single charge.
Smaller and sleeker than the Grand Cherokee, the Wagoneer S stands out with its modern design cues and aerodynamic build. The two-row, five-seat SUV straddles the compact and mid-size segments, featuring a seven-slot grille highlighted with lighting elements and a distinctive rear spoiler. Its interior echoes the luxurious feel of the Grand Wagoneer, with wall-to-wall screens, a McIntosh audio system, and a host of advanced features such as heated and cooled seats, a head-up display, and comprehensive driver-assist systems.
Under the hood, the Wagoneer S packs a punch with its 600-horsepower setup, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The 100.5 kWh battery supports fast charging, capable of going from 20 percent to 80 percent in 23 minutes. While the initial offering is an all-electric model, future variants may include a Trailhawk off-road trim and a gas-powered version with Stellantis's inline-six engine.
Jeep is positioning the Wagoneer S as a premium entry in the electric SUV market, competing with luxury models like the Tesla Model Y, Cadillac Lyriq, and Genesis Electrified GV70. The SUV's design, technology, and performance features are aimed at appealing to a wide range of buyers, including those looking for a high-end, eco-friendly vehicle.
Reservations for the $71,995 Wagoneer S Launch Edition open soon, with deliveries expected later this year. Additional variants, including more rugged off-road versions, are anticipated to expand the lineup.
