Yahoo Autos 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Gets Big Price Hike, Starts at $136,050
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT55, which packs a 469-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, will start at $136,050.
The AMG GT63, which boosts the V-8 to 577 ponies, will cost $177,050 before options.
The second-generation AMG GT coupe will arrive at dealerships this spring.
The second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT debuted last fall, and now Mercedes has announced pricing for its muscular coupe. When the AMG GT reaches dealerships this spring, prices will start at $136,050 for the AMG GT55 and $177,050 for the AMG GT63.
The 2024 AMG GT costs significantly more than the previous-generation model, which was last sold for the 2021 model year. Three years ago, the GT coupe opened at $119,650, while stepping up to the GT C coupe sent the price to $154,550 and the GT R coupe rang in at $167,650. Not only is the new base model, the GT55, over $16,000 more expensive than the 2021 GT, but it also produces 469 horsepower from its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, 54 fewer horses than the 2021 base car.
Stepping up to the 2024 AMG GT63 brings the horsepower output to 577 ponies, equivalent to the output of the outgoing GT R despite a nearly $20,000 price hike. While the first-generation AMG GT coupe was exclusively rear-wheel drive, all 2024 models come with all-wheel drive, which should help shave a few tenths off the time to 60 mph. All 2024 AMG GTs also come with Mercedes's adaptive dampers with active roll stabilization and rear-wheel steering.
The AMG GT will be offered with 11 paint colors, a series of 20- and 21-inch wheel designs, and an AMG Night package that blackens the grille trim and model badging. There's also an optional carbon-fiber package that substitutes the lightweight material on the front splitter, side sills, side-view mirror housings, and rear diffuser. It also upgrades the fixed rear wing, as long as you also check the box for the AMG Aerodynamics package, which adds the aforementioned wing, beefs up the diffuser, and attaches other aerodynamic pieces on the outer air intakes and wheel arches.
