Ford Mustang GTD's Interior Has Two Rear WindowsFord
  • Ford has finally revealed the Mustang GTD's interior, which appears to be a lot more comfortable than we'd expect from a street-legal GT3 car.

  • The GTD's most interesting interior feature is the secondary rear window that gives a live look at the Mustang's exotic Mutlimatic rear suspension.

  • Ford also detailed the GTD's available Performance package that adds active aero elements, 20-inch magnesium wheels, and a dive-plane-laced chin.

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD has two rear windows. One provides a predictable view of what's behind the track-focused pony car, while the other shows its exotic pushrod-style rear suspension in all its glory. The latter feature was revealed today alongside the rest of the GTD's interior, which we're now seeing for the first time.

Getting Inside the GTD

Ford already gave the world its first glimpse of the $300K-plus Mustang GTD last August, and we've also since detailed some of its coolest bits. But now we get to peek inside, and we have to say, it looks a lot more hospitable than we would've expected. There are the familiar digital displays hogging space on the dash like in lesser 'Stangs. As one would expect, carbon-fiber trim is found throughout, and there's a set of Recaro front seats that appear to be a lot more comfortable than the skeletal, thinly padded buckets found in other hardcore track cars.

While the GTD isn't the only Ford Mustang with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, it is the only one adorned with exclusive parts. Wrapped in leather, with microsuede lining the inside of the rim, the tiller also has buttons to adjust the suspension settings and exhaust modes. Drivers can also swap cogs by grabbing the 3-D-printed titanium paddle shifters located behind the wheel.

Just like in the now-discontinued Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, the GTD has a rotary shift knob on the center console. While it's not our preferred method to select gears, it's the primary way to operate the eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle. There are also physical buttons below the center stack that provide easy access to the front-axle lift system and the Track apps. The GT500 also donated its supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, which has been modified to make over 800 horsepower.

Performance Pack

We've learned that the Mustang GTD will be offered with a Performance pack that Ford claims was designed to help the car achieve a sub-7.0-second Nürburgring lap time. Along with adding dive planes and a front splitter to its face, the Performance pack includes flaps under the car as well as the rear wing's drag-reduction system. Those active aero bits are joined by a diet plan that helps the powerful pony shed some pounds thanks to lightweight 20-inch magnesium wheels and fewer sound-deadening materials.

The GTD with Chroma Flame paint seen above features both the Performance pack and the Carbon Series treatment. The latter leaves the car's carbon-fiber hood, roof, and rear "Tech Deck" bare for everyone to see. Now we just have to wait for our turn to get behind the wheel, but so far we like what we see from the Mustang GTD.
