After a pair of facelifts, and over a decade on the assembly line, Infiniti is bringing out a next generation of its QX80 three-row SUV.

While this QX80 still sticks to its body-on-frame construction, the V8 won’t make the transition to 2025. But there's totally new sheetmetal, which also contains a similarly new cabin experience. Oh yeah, there’s also a significant bump in the base price.

Even though we knew the V8 was going away and we learned some of the details about the V6 earlier this year—it’s still worth noting. This 3.5-liter V6 sends 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Despite being down a pair of cylinders, this turbocharged V6 bests its V8 predecessor by 50 hp and over 100 lb-ft of torque. Infiniti says the nine-speed automatic—sending power to the rear wheels or the four-wheel-drive system—offers a 40% wider gear spread than the outgoing seven-speed transmission.

Joining the underhood shakeup, Infiniti wholly restyled the QX80 for ‘25. This direction shouldn’t be a surprise for those familiar with the QX Monograph concept. Though, to the surprise of some, the concept’s exterior styling is almost exactly translated to the new QX80’s shell.

With almost every automotive concept-turned-production design, there are some minor concessions for pesky pieces like fuel doors and door handles, but the overall design is effectively carried over.

Still, this squared-off styling does add a sense of Range Rover elegance to the Infiniti. Narrow daytime running lights sit just under the hood, with the actual headlights flanking the grille. At the rear, a long LED light bar helps show the width of this new QX80.

With the mirrors flipped out, this QX80 is 92.5 inches wide. Combine that with the 211.2 inches in overall length, and you can appreciate this SUV’s large footprint. Slightly longer than a Chevrolet Tahoe, Infiniti added an inch to this QX80 during the redesign. Supporting that length is a 121.0-inch wheelbase.

Handling all of this is a standard set of 20-inch wheels, which can be optioned to 22-inch wheels. Managing those big rollers is a pair of wishbone control arms at each corner.

Coil springs come standard, but an adjustable air suspension is available. Infiniti also adds a dynamic digital suspension system that takes inputs from sensors around the QX80 to better match damping force to the road surface.

Unfortunately, for some, Infiniti is also pivoting the QX80 away from hydraulically assisted steering and toward an electronically assisted module.

The inside of the QX80 leaps into modernity. A pair of 14.3-inch screens are standard and manage your media and instrumentation needs. This 14.3-inch digital instrument screen is configurable and has three pre-set designs.

There’s also a 9.0-inch touchscreen that sits ahead of the center console and is responsible for managing your climate controls, seat heating, and drive modes.

But wait, there’s more. Infiniti is adding heated third-row seating as an option on the latest QX80, and massaging seats will be available in the second row. Infiniti is also adding what it calls Biometric Cooling, which uses an infrared sensor in the headliner to adjust the climate control when it detects an overheating passenger in the second row.

Also in the interior, Infiniti says the QX80 gets a new 170-degree front camera system positioned at the grille to project an ultra-wide view onto the 14.3-inch displays, which will be handy seeing around other cars in parking decks.

There’s also “Invisible Hood View,” which helps folks better see what’s in front of the QX80. A digital rear-view mirror gives yet another monitor to view and can help overcome the problem of tall second- and third-row occupants blocking the mirror’s path.

Infiniti also adds an in-car camera so front-row occupants can check on second-row occupants without twisting their respective heads. After you leave the vehicle, you can also use a smartphone app for a camera view inside the QX80 to see if you forgot anything essential in your car.

Further expanding the tech list is the QX80’s driver-assistance systems. Standard is Infiniti’s Pro Pilot system, which includes adaptive cruise control and lane centering. This system also uses navigation data to help adjust the speed around curves and intersections. The more advanced Pro Pilot 2.1 system boasts hands-free driving in certain freeway scenarios, according to Infiniti.

All in all, this is a major leap for Infiniti and the QX80, and there’s one more leap in store for shoppers: the price. The ‘25 Infiniti QX80 will start at $84,445, which is up from the current $76,840 starting price.

This roughly 10% bump covers some of the new features, and it follows the upward trend in automotive retailing. But the current-generation QX80 finished 2023 near the bottom of the luxury SUV segment (with fewer than 13,000 US sales), so it’s hard to predict how shoppers will respond.

Topping the QX80’s charts is the Autograph 4WD trim, which will set you back $112,590 when it goes on sale this summer.
