Bentley calls Mulliner its "in-house bespoke division." In other words, it is the wing of the company responsible for crafting a top Bentley customer's wildest dreams. It is also responsible for the brand's young line of coachbuilt specials, like the Bacalar roadster and the Batur coupe. The Mulliner coachbuilt lineup is expanding again, this time with a convertible take on the Batur.

Like the hardtop variant, the Batur is among the final cars to use the brand's 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W-12 engine. It produces a new high watermark of 740 hp in this application, more than enough power to propel the Batur Convertible to speeds that will make you regret dropping the top. Bentley says that the top can go down at speeds under 30 mph and converts in 19 seconds.

As this is a coachbuilt car, customization options are limitless. That means the buyer can not only choose from the options set out for this car, but any other color or hand-painted graphic they prefer. One interior option Bentley highlights is an integration of rose gold on touchpoints like the uniquely-designed drive mode selector knob, an option that the brand says is part of a collaboration with expert goldsmiths from Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

On the engineering car photographed here, No. 0 of 16, the Mulliner team chose a single-color two-tone Vermillion orange-red with gloss paint over the hood and satin throughout the body. Glossy carbon fiber accents and a matching glossy black accent the grille, the wheels, and the continuous trim line that stretches from the sides of the hood to the back of the tonneau cover. Further elements of orange accent those accent pieces on the grille and wheels.

Just 16 Bentley Batur Convertibles will be built. That is two fewer than the Bacalar and the Batur coupe, so these convertibles will be even more exclusive than the most exclusive Bentleys of the era to date.
