New Big U-Haul Car Trailer Just Dropped
I absolutely love renting trailers from U-Haul to transport my garbage vehicles around the country. Trailer rentals are significantly less expensive than buying, insuring and registering your own trailer with minimal downsides. The Auto Transport has long been a favorite of mine, and the company’s motorcycle trailer is even better. There are just so many great and simple features to these trailers, including fold down fenders, integrated ramps, and front tire straps. Unfortunately, sometimes, they fall just a little short of what average American users need them for. That’s where the new Heavy Duty version comes in.

If the old Auto Transport worked for your car, it should still work for your car. If you had something that was just too wide for the regular AT’s ramps, however, this new HD version is going to be a big deal with a wider flat bottom and drive-over ramps. If it is narrow enough to fit in a standard American highway lane, it should fit on this trailer without much issue. And if you’ve been waiting for a way to haul your three-wheeled machines, you can finally rejoice because there isn’t a big gap in the middle for the third wheel to fall into. The new trailer even includes a third ramp in the middle in case you need it! And there are still plenty of D-ring tie-down points.
There isn’t much known about the new trailer yet, aside from the photos shared on Twitter above. I have reached out to U-Haul for a rundown of the specs of the new trailer, and will update this post with their reply when I receive it. From what I can tell this new flatbed is optimized for larger and heavier loads than the current trailer, which maxes out at 5,290 pounds. If you needed to haul a pickup truck or big SUV, you couldn’t do it with U-Haul before. The new one should manage it, I would think. Get out and haul!
