Twin-engine, 575-hp Mosler Cadillac emerges at Auctions America

It’s not difficult to visit a new car dealer and plunk down under $100,000 for a car with over 500 hp. But, in 2000, unless you wanted to spend exceptionally large sums on exotic offerings, you had to be an ingenious sort. Warren Mosler was just one of those people, and created this completely wacky-slash-insanely awesome Cadillac Eldorado with two Northstar V-8s — making a combined 575 hp.

Called the Mosler TwinStar, of which five were built, it left the stock 275 hp 4.6-litre engine up front and added another 300-hp Northstar V-8 cribbed from the Cadillac ETC (Eldorado Touring Coupe) in the trunk powering the rear wheels. All that extra engine, and its required bracing, makes the TwinStar a bit of a porker at 4,780 lbs. But, with 575 hp on tap (some claimed it was as high as 600 hp), this Frankencaddy is no slouch. Also, thanks to its disproportionate wheelbase and all-wheel-drive, the TwinStar is said to be quite good in the corners.

This particular example, previously owned by former saxophonist for the E Street Band, Clarence Clemons, is being offered by Auctions America on March 28th. If you want one of the weirdest, coolest Cadillacs in recent history, it’ll only set you back between $75,000 and $125,000.
