New Dynasty Brewing as Ferrari Goes Back-to-Back at 24 Hours of Le Mans

In a race that included a rain storm and a bit of unforeseen drama late, Ferrari once again ruled the 24 Hours of Le Mans sports car classic.

The win in the race that ended Sunday afternoon in France gave Ferrari back-to-back wins in France following a dominate five-year run by Toyota Gazoo Racing.

The race was slowed by Safety Car periods for a total of nearly one quarter of the race, and a record nine cars finished on the lead lap. A total of 46 of the 62 starters were running at the end.

This time, it was the No. 50 Ferrari AF Corse 499P of drivers Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nickas Nielsen taking the top spot overall and in the Hypercar class over the runner-up No. 7 Toyota Gazoo Racing Toyota GR010 Hybrid of drivers Jose Maria Lopez, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck De Vries.

The final margin of victory was 14.221 seconds, which would have been more without a late Ferrari pit stop in the 23rd hour hour after a loose door brought out a black/orange flag bringing the car into the pits.

The sister Ferrari 499P of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi completed the podium, 36.7 seconds off the lead.

LMP2

In LMP2, the No. 22 United Autosports entry of Oliver Jarvis, Bijoy Garg and Nolan Siegel topped the field.

Finishing second in class, 18.651 seconds back, was the No. 34 Inter Europol Competition team of Jakub "Kuba" Śmiechowski, Clément Novalak,and Vlad Lomko. Completing the podium was No. 28 IDEC Sport team of Paul Lafargue, Reshad de Gerus and Job van Uitert.

LMGT3

The No. 01 Manthy EMA Porsche 911 GT3.R of drivers Yasser Shahin, Morris Schuring and Richard Lietz earned its first victory in the class by one lap over the the No. 31 Team WRT BMW M4 driven by Augusto Farfus, Sean Gelael, Darren Leung.
