Joel Embiid has strong belief that he, Sixers will figure out how to be perfect

PHILADELPHIA–In order to win a title, the Philadelphia 76ers have to be close to perfect. They have to be able to overcome any mistakes they make so they can knock off a team like the Boston Celtics or the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs so they can get to the finals.

In Monday’s 101-99 loss to the Miami Heat, they were anything but. They missed their first nine shots of the fourth quarter, they then missed their final five shots of the game, and they committed 20 turnovers on the night. That is not the type of execution that a championship team exudes on the floor.

Joel Embiid had 27 points and 12 rebounds, but he committed six of those turnovers. He also got his shot blocked by Heat big man Bam Adebayo with the game on the line when the Sixers were down by just one.

However, Embiid still believes that he and the Sixers will find a way to be perfect in those situations.

“I believe in myself,” Embiid stated. “I believe that I put in a lot of work. No freak injuries and I’ll be fine. So I believe that we, as a team, we have everything we need. It’s all about us.”

Embiid isn’t wrong in the talent assessment. He, James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Tobias Harris form a very talented foursome and PJ Tucker has proven himself as a valuable player in big games.

At this point, it’s all about putting it together.

“Everybody being on point, everybody’s doing their job,” Embiid added. “I’m doing my job James is doing his job, Tyrese, Tobias, and all the guy. Shooters knocking on their shots, getting stops. I believe in myself and I believe in us.”

The Sixers will look to put a halt to this two-game skid when they take on the Heat again in Miami on Wednesday.
