Koenigsegg has announced that its Jesko Absolut has set a new record for the 0-250-0 mph sprint, clocking in at an astonishing 28.27 seconds. This remarkable feat surpasses the previous record held by Koenigsegg's own Regera by 1.33 seconds.
On June 27th, at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden, factory test driver Markus Lundh piloted the Jesko Absolut to this record-breaking performance. The supercar achieved the 0-400-0 km/h run in just 27.83 seconds, shaving nearly a second off the Regera's time set in 2023. The Jesko Absolut also set records for the quickest production car to reach 400 km/h and 250 mph, with times of 18.82 seconds and 19.2 seconds, respectively.
The Jesko Absolut is a testament to Koenigsegg's relentless pursuit of speed and engineering excellence. Powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, the Jesko produces an incredible 1600 horsepower when running on E85 gasoline. This power is delivered to the rear wheels through Koenigsegg's innovative Light Speed Transmission (LST), a nine-speed gearbox featuring seven clutches for seamless and rapid gear shifts.
For the record attempts, the Jesko Absolut was minimally modified, retaining a roll cage and a driver's seat from the Koenigsegg One:1, as preferred by the driver. The Absolut variant forgoes the large rear wing seen on other models, reducing downforce to optimize straight-line speed and acceleration.
Christian von Koenigsegg, the company's founder, believes the Jesko Absolut can achieve speeds of up to 330 mph given enough space, hinting at even more astonishing records in the future. As enthusiasts and industry watchers eagerly await further developments, the Jesko Absolut's recent accomplishments have solidified its status as one of the most extreme and capable supercars ever created.
