The Lamborghini Huracan is going out as it lived: With a brand new special edition that is even faster and even more extreme than the one immediately before it. The final Huracan variant is the STJ, an ultra-limited and even more extreme follow-up to the track-focused Huracan STO.

Like the STO before it, the Huracan STJ, announced Wednesday, is a rear-wheel drive variant with extreme downforce and a focus on putting down quick lap times. The STJ becomes even more intense in the pursuit of fast laps, headlined by a set of four-way adjustable shock absorbers on all four corners that replace the active elements on the original car. These, Lamborghini says, allow for lower spring stiffness without compromising control and feel.

Aerodynamics and tires are changed too, albeit only slightly. New dive planes on the front are matched by three degrees of extra rear wing angle, creating what Lamborghini calls a 10 percent increase in the "aerodynamic load" over the car without compromising balance. Tires are unique versions of Bridgestone's Potenza Race series, installed only on single-lug, 20-inch wheels.

If the basic STO was the Huracan's equivalent of a 911 GT3, the STJ is less like a GT3 RS and more like a Manthey performance kit. All of the changes add up to an advantage of one second around Lamborghini's Nardò test track over the standard STO, a relatively slim margin between two variants of the same production car but a significant step up for minor alterations in a car's final year.

Just ten Huracan STJs will be available. They represent the last call for the Huracan, which is set to be followed up by a new hybrid supercar later this year. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Road & Track in March that the brand already has a fighting bull's name picked out for that car, but it has yet to be revealed.
