Changes to styling, powertrain, tech, and interior are coming to the Mercedes-Benz G550 for the 2025 model year.
Mercedes has given its flagship G-class SUV a mild styling refresh for 2025 that's said to improve aerodynamics.
The G550 is still a pretty boxy, but a redesigned grille, a new front bumper, reshaped A-pillars, and a subtle roof-top spoiler at the top of the windshield help the SUV cut through the air better than before.
The changes are likely to help prep the G-class for an upcoming electric variant, but we're glad to see that the iconic G-wagen's styling is largely uncompromised.
The interior gains numerous upgrades, including the MBUX infotainment interface, climate-controlled cupholders, and a new wireless charging pad.
The rear-seat entertainment system is also upgraded for 2025 and now features 11.6-inch screens mounted to the front seatbacks and allow for web browsing and video streaming.
The 2025 G550 can also be upgraded and personalized with even more options via the Manufaktur customization program.
Off-road capability remains a G-class priority, and a new 360-degree camera system now can project an image of what's under the SUV as well.
Under the hood, the 2024 model's V-8 engine has been dropped in favor of a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt hybrid system.
The new powertrain makes more horsepower than the outgoing V-8 at 443 ponies, but it has less torque.
The updated G550 will go into production soon and will appear in Mercedes-Benz dealerships by the end of 2024.
