Rotary engines might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they hold a special place in our hearts. They're quirky and unique, and sound unlike any piston engine. This six-rotor RX-7 is a great example of why rotary engines are so cool.

Built by Humphries Steel & Performance of New Zealand and owned by the folks at Mukka Motorsports, this RX-7 has been mostly stripped and gutted to accommodate the massive six-rotor built by Pulse Performance Race Engines. Power gets to the rear wheels via an HGT Precision six-speed sequential gearbox, according to Engine Swap Depot.

The misfiRE YouTube channel got a chance to spend some time up close with this wild Mazda-based creation, learning about the intricacies of the suspension, cooling, and clever dry-sump oiling system. Plus we get to hear it at full-throttle acceleration and doing massive burnouts. You'll want to turn the volume all the way up for that part.
