Trans Am Worldwide came to the SEMA 2024 show in Las Vegas with the first hardtop 70/SS model and wowed the crowds. Some are amazed that without the soft convertible top, the lines of this build created by the Florida shop look so similar to the 1970 Chevelle.
Watch a supercharged Acura NSX catch fire while driving down the highway.
Using the sixth-gen Camaro chassis, Trans Am Worldwide dials up performance by modifying the LT1 V8 with goodies like a 2650 Magnuson Supercharger, higher-flow fuel system, and a more aggressive cam. Customers have the option of adding even more upgrades if they really have a need for speed.
There’s also the option to go with a naturally-aspirated LT1. For those who want more, both a supercharged and twin-turbo 396 are in the mix. Plus, there’s a 454 option with supercharging or twin turbos, the most extreme offering with 1,000-horsepower.
Worldwide has modified the Camaro so rear track is six inches wider, allowing for almost 12-inch-wide tires. As for brakes, they should be excellent since they’re Wilwood with six and four pistons.
What’s crazy is the hardtop on the 70/SS is removable. Hidden underneath is the soft top, so in warmer weather the owner can store the hard shell and enjoy the convenience of the foldable cloth option. Like what some Jeep Wrangler owners use, Trans Am Worldwide is developing a garage lift system for ease of storage and installation of the hard top.
Shoppers get to choose from an array of heritage and modern colors, with stripes. The bumpers can either be painted to match the body or be covered with chrome. While this first example of the hardtop 70/SS has a matching body and roof, Trans Am Worldwide will be offering a vinyl roof option in the near future.
As for the interior, it’s a two-tone design which draws plenty of cues from the second-gen Chevelle SS. There are plenty of callouts to the 70/SS model designation in badges, just so the driver and passengers don’t forget what kind of car they’re rolling around in.
