The DeTomaso Mangusta, one of only 401 examples built, represents the epitome of late 1960s supercar design. Launched in 1967, it helped to popularize the supercar segment alongside contemporaries such as the Lamborghini Miura. The Mangusta features a striking design by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ghia, characterized by its vast haunches, a tail peppered with slots and vents, and a unique two-part rear engine cover that hinges from the middle. Its American power came from a Ford 289ci (later 302ci) V8 engine, making it capable of exceeding 250 km/h.

This particular Mangusta, a desirable quad-headlamp European specification model, was originally delivered new to Italy on New Year's Eve 1970. It has spent the past decade in a collection in Barcelona. Originally ivory, the car was repainted in Ferrari Rosso Corsa during an extensive professional restoration. This restoration included several performance and safety upgrades, transforming the car into a more formidable machine.

Under the hood, the Mangusta now boasts an upgraded Ford Hi-Po V8 engine, fed by four Weber carburettors and paired with a custom exhaust system. The modifications also include staggered Campagnolo center-lock wheels, a modern Brembo braking system, an aluminum fuel tank, adjustable suspension, a fire suppression system, and air-conditioning. These enhancements bring out the motorsport-inspired potential of this classic supercar.
