  • BMW is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the X5 SUV with a limited-run special edition based on the xDrive40i.

  • The Silver Anniversary edition has BMW Individual paint, special badging, and the xOffroad package to distinguish it from the standard X5.

It has been a quarter of a century since the first BMW X5 SUV rolled off the production line in Spartanburg, South Carolina. BMW is celebrating that milestone—as with any other 25-year anniversary—with a gift of silver. Specifically, the limited-run 2025 BMW X5 Silver Anniversary edition, which has special paint and a blend of bits from the X5 Sport and M Sport packages.

Unique Look

The X5's anniversary special sets itself apart from the standard car with a host of visual changes. The exterior is finished in Lime Rock Grey BMW Individual paint, with a silver anniversary badge on the rear tailgate marking the car's significance.

While the special edition is based on the X5 xDrive40i, it blends visual cues from both the Sport and M Sport designs. BMW opted against including the M Sport package's more aggressive front and rear bumpers and rocker panels but did include the extended Shadowline trim, which darkens the trim on the roof rails and kidney grille surround. The special edition also borrows the M Sport's 20-inch bi-color wheels, furthering the silver theme.

Inside the anniversary special, customers have the option to choose upholstery colors in black, cognac, coffee, or grey. A special Silver Anniversary plaque is placed on the carbon-fiber center console, a material that BMW normally saves for the X5's M models.

Exclusive xOffroad Package

Mechanically, the Silver Anniversary edition sets itself apart from the rest of the X5 lineup with the inclusion of the xOffroad package, which BMW doesn't currently offer on any other SUV. The off-road-oriented package utilizes the air suspension on both axles and features a mechanically locking rear differential as well as underbody protection. As a bonus, the special edition comes with a roof rack, luggage-compartment mat, and all-weather floor mats.

BMW is limiting the anniversary edition to roughly 1000 units. Pricing for the Silver Anniversary edition will start at $81,075 when production starts in August.
