UPDATE 5/15/2024: This story has been updated with pricing for the 2025 Kia Sorento plug-in hybrid. It now starts under $50K with the addition of the lower-level EX trim, which starts at $49,365. That's $2300 less than last year's SX Prestige, then the only PHEV model sold. That top trim now starts at $54,465.

The hybrid versions of the Kia Sorento have always been more expensive than the standard gas-only models. With Kia releasing pricing for the 2025 Sorento hybrid, that model now costs even more than before, especially the top-of-the-line SX Prestige trim level, which receives a $4100 price increase versus last year. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid is now offered for under $50K thanks to the new lower-level EX trim. It starts at $49,365, which is $2300 less than last year's top-spec SX Prestige that now starts at $54,465 (up $2800).

For 2025, the hybrid Sorento's entry-level EX model starts at $40,065—a $1700 uptick. It's powered by a gas-burning 1.6-liter turbo four paired with an electric motor that together make 227 horsepower. While the standard setup feeds the front wheels, an all-wheel-drive option is also available. That version starts at $41,865 for '25, which amounts to a lesser $1200 price hike.

Stepping up to the fanciest Sorento Hybrid naturally comes at a higher cost. Now starting at $48,265, the SX Prestige costs at least $4100 more than its 2024 equivalent. It comes standard with all-wheel drive as well as a mircosuede headliner, ventilated front seats, and a curved panoramic screen featuring two 12.3-inch displays. The latter includes the infotainment system with a new OS that offers over-the-air updates and (finally) wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Along with those same features, the nonhybrid Kia Sorento received a mid-cycle refresh for the previous model year. However, those changes weren't adopted by the hybrid and plug-in-hybrid Sorentos until they reached 2025 status. Kia has yet to release pricing for the latest versions of the nonhybrid and PHEV Sorento models, so stayed tuned for that.
